Welcome to Decades of Media! My name is Jane Mallory. I am eighteen years old and from Los Angeles, California, and I created this website because I wanted to help others find connection with their family members or who they were taking care of with dementia. I am the youngest in a very large family, so I have seen just how much of a problem aging can be, and the weight it puts on peoples shoulders. I watched my mom lose her mother to dementia. My grandmother, Mary Claire, had dementia and was in hospice for four years. She may not have been able to remember my or my mom's name, but she could sing and dance when my grandfather put on the Lawrence Welk Show. In that moment, I saw the happiness that surrounded everyone in the room, and I knew I wanted to do something to help make more moments like that one. So I took my love for the arts and media, and turned my attention towards creating this website. In honor of Mary Claire, I would like to dedicate this website to her, the amazing grandmother who I see myself in.
